🎥 New interviews with leading researchers reveal the personal journeys, challenges, and inspirations behind the project’s groundbreaking nanomedicine research.

The “Meet Your Scientist” video series has become one of the most recognisable elements of PERSEUS’s outreach strategy — a bridge between advanced research and the general public. Designed and produced to professional standards, each interview captures both the scientific insights and the human experiences of those at the heart of the project.

During the second reporting period, two new interviews were added to the series, featuring Prof. Giancarlo Salviati (CNR) and Prof. Avi Schroeder (Technion – Israel Institute of Technology). Filmed in their respective laboratory settings, the videos offer an intimate view of what drives scientists to explore the potential of nanomaterials for cancer therapy.

Prof. Salviati shares his long-term perspective on the evolution of 2D materials and their role in biomedical innovation. His reflections trace the path from fundamental physics to practical applications, highlighting how collaboration between material scientists and life-science experts opens new possibilities for targeted therapy.

Prof. Schroeder’s interview, meanwhile, focuses on his pioneering work with smart nanocarriers and programmable delivery systems. He speaks about creativity in research, the excitement of discovery, and the importance of mentorship and collaboration across borders.

Beyond scientific content, the “Meet Your Scientist” series aims to make research relatable and inspiring. By presenting scientists as real people — curious, passionate, and deeply motivated — it invites viewers to connect with the values underlying PERSEUS: openness, inclusivity, and responsibility toward society.

The initiative forms part of QED’s broader “personal angle” communication strategy, which seeks to humanise complex topics and foster curiosity among non-specialist audiences. Each episode is scripted and edited to combine narrative storytelling with authentic dialogue, filmed in real laboratory or institutional environments.

The new interviews are available on the PERSEUS website and YouTube channel, where they accompany previous episodes featuring other members of the consortium. The growing series contributes not only to public understanding of nanomedicine but also to the visibility of European research excellence worldwide.

As PERSEUS continues to advance, Meet Your Scientist will keep introducing the brilliant minds behind its discoveries — reminding us that behind every innovation lies a story of human dedication and curiosity.
