🧩 From nanomedicine to cybersecurity, PERSEUS joins forces with sister projects and EU initiatives to accelerate innovation and amplify impact.
Collaboration is at the heart of European research, and during its second reporting period, PERSEUS deepened its engagement with a network of projects and initiatives that share its vision of responsible, high-impact science. Through clustering activities, joint participation in EU services, and cross-disciplinary networking, PERSEUS has become a proactive member of the wider European innovation ecosystem.
Building bridges across projects
PERSEUS has established active collaborations with several Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020 initiatives, including SMART-electron and QUONDENSATE. These synergies go beyond scientific alignment — they represent a shared commitment to openness, ethical innovation, and gender equality in advanced technologies.
With SMART-electron, the connection centres on materials science and imaging. Both projects explore frontier nanotechnologies — from ultrafast electron microscopy to functional nanostructures — creating opportunities for knowledge exchange and dissemination. Joint outreach activities, such as the Women in Science campaign and thematic events, have showcased the complementary strengths of the two consortia, promoting a common message: that European research thrives through collaboration.
The interaction with QUONDENSATE extends this dialogue to the domain of quantum and condensed-matter physics, where PERSEUS results on 2D materials offer insights relevant to next-generation quantum devices.
Leveraging EU services for impact
Beyond direct project partnerships, PERSEUS has also taken full advantage of European Commission support services designed to maximise research visibility and exploitation. Through its participation in the Horizon Results Booster, the consortium has received guidance on communication, clustering, and exploitation planning. These activities are helping PERSEUS prepare its research results for post-project sustainability — ensuring that the scientific and societal benefits endure well beyond the project’s lifetime.
In parallel, PERSEUS engaged in the EIC Booster Networking Service, an initiative that connects EU-funded research teams with investors, innovation hubs, and industry representatives. This engagement has opened new channels for translating laboratory discoveries into future applications, strengthening the bridge between research, innovation, and exploitation.
Fostering a culture of cooperation
These collaborations and services all serve one goal: to reinforce the collective capacity of European research to tackle complex challenges. In the field of nanomedicine, where progress depends on interdisciplinary expertise — from material physics to biology, from data analytics to ethics — no single project can succeed in isolation. By joining forces with complementary initiatives, PERSEUS amplifies its scientific, technological, and societal impact.
Through these clustering efforts, the project also contributes to the European Research Area’s ambition of creating open, connected, and collaborative ecosystems, where data, results, and ideas circulate freely.
As PERSEUS continues its mission of leveraging nanomaterials to fight cancer, it remains committed to cooperation as both a method and a value — demonstrating that when Europe’s researchers work together, innovation travels faster and further.
